Little Fockers Soundtrack Review

Little Fockers Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the motion picture score Little Fockers by Stephen Trask.

"It is another comedy score that sounds very much like any comedy score out there."

So another one of those Focker movies eh? Haven't we had enough? Ok I admit I have had a few laughs in the previous two movies, but I wasn't expecting a third one. It can only get worse right? The director Jay Roach has been replaced with Paul Weitz and instead of Randy Newman we have Stephen Trask. Surprisingly (I have to say) all movies has had the score released. So what is in store for us this time?

Little Fockers is the third movie in the series, but this is the first time Stephen Trask has had the pleasure of composing for it. Randy Newman was the composer of the previous two movies, but unfortunately I haven't heard them yet. None of that matters mind as we venture off into the world of comedy scores yet again. I have enjoyed the movies thus far, but the music has never made a great impression on me yet.

The score is very lighthearted and jolly for the most part. I don't think there were a lot of big challenges writing this score to be fair. It has some great moments like 'An Interesting Couple', 'Focker Family Makeup' and 'The Gregfocker' that dares to break free from the comedy and actually build something that's not yet another cliche.

Conclusion

It falls into the category of 'heard it all before' and it is another comedy score that sounds very much like any comedy score out there. It has a few good tracks that shows that comedy doesn't have to be all about the fun tracks, but also some sense of emotion. Top marks for effort, but not exactly groundbreaking.

CUE RATING: 69.4
