One For The Money Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the film score One For The Money by Deborah Lurie.

"I guess you can say that you get what you pay for."

One For The Money directed by Julie Anne Robinson stars Katherine Heigl as unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum who tries her best to make money, a lot of money. The concept isn't new and the trailer pretty much gives away everything you need to know. The composer is Deborah Lurie.

As far as comedy scores go I have a certain patience with them, I even like some, actually love some comedy scores. Deborah Lurie is a very capable composer and I am very happy to have her back. I remember the debacle over "9" that hardly mentioned her as composer even though she did most of the scoring and great job she did too.

This action comedy tries to sound a lot cooler than it actually is. I am not fooled by it. It's has a kind of bluesy, gritty sound to it, but it just goes nowhere. It fails creating any interest whatsoever so in that regard, it underperforms.

Conclusion

I guess you can say that you get what you pay for. I don't think this film couldn't have been scored better by most composers, but it's severely lacking in terms of melody and fun. 2012 continues, but it's quite bad so far.
