Crysis 3 Soundtrack Review: this is a review of the video game score Crysis 3 by Borislav Slavov & Peter Antovszki.

Crysis 3 is a a beautiful game and eclipses what Crysis 2 was. Last time Hans Zimmer was helping out with the themes. This time composer Borislav Slavov has gotten help from Peter Antovszki who did quite a few cues on the score. The main title ‘Crysis 3 – New York Memories’ is quite different from the Crysis 2 main theme and I feel it doesn’t quite get there. It has a sort of calm electronic vibe to it, although the piano gives it’s a bit of warmth and strength.

There’s a lot of action here as expected and to be fair, most of them are very good, just not great. There are a few exceptions like the pulsating ‘River Chase’ with an awesome dark bass sound, ‘What Are You Prepared To Sacrifice?’ that gives you a big reward if you stick to it halfway through with a very powerful and epic finale with strings and horns.

Crysis 3 is a good score, just not great. I feel that Slavov’s material here is usually of a very high quality, but I never warmed to Peter Antovszki’s material which felt different somehow.
