Femme Fatales Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the television score Femme Fatales by Joe Kraemer.
“The score didn’t blow me away, but it was a good listen.”
Femme Fatales is a television series all about dangerous and sexy women which is inspired by the tradition of pulp stories, film noir and graphic novels. Each episode is a stand-alone affair and includes lots of sex and violence as it’s main course. The series is created by Mark A. Altman and Steven Kriozere and is showing on Cinemax. The score is composed by Joe Kraemer.

Joe Kraemer is back! Actually he hasn’t been gone, its just that he hasn’t gotten his scores released. He is probably most known for his score to the film “The Way Of The Gun” from the year 2000. What is great about this release is that it includes music from all episodes in the first two seasons. Yep, that’s right, all 24 of them. Every track is a mini-suite from every episode and that is pretty awesome.
We get a lot of music here and that is the great part. If you are a fan of the show and have been listening to the music within each episode and liked it, then this is probably the release of the year for you. There’s a problem here for me though, the music in each episode isn’t that great, at least not as it’s represented on the album. But just because it isn’t great, doesn’t mean that it isn’t good. Even though each episode is different, the theme is the same overall and Joe Kraemer recognizes that and creates a score that is pretty consistent. If I didn’t know better, I would think each piece of music is written for the same episode or film.
The score didn’t blow me away, but it was a good listen and I listened to every “episode” a few times and it failed to stick with me. I can’t honestly remember much of the music on the album after listening to it a few times and that is the score’s biggest failing.
GEEK SCORE: 66.9
