Soundtrack Review: Game Of Thrones Season 2 (2012)
Game Of Thrones Season 2 Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the television score Game Of Thrones Season 2 by Ramin Djawadi.
“Games of Thrones season 2 has surpassed season 1 in every way, including music with better buildups, more excitement and better themes.”
Game of Thrones needs no introduction, as I am willing to bet that anyone who reads this review will be familiar with it. Season 2 continues where season 1 left off, but with more bloodshed and carnage than ever. Season 1 was just a teaser, and luckily Ramin Djawadi who scored season 1 is back with more music for season 2.

I mentioned in the intro that season 1 was just a teaser and that is also true for the music. I really enjoyed the music of season 1, a very consistent and high quality score, but it lacked something. It was like it was climbing the mountain, but never got to the top except for a few cues like ‘Main Title’ of course. Season 2 still has the amazing ‘Main Title’, but it offers so much more.
There are cues like ‘What Is Dead May Never Die’ that has a patient buildup but with wonderful rewards. There are moody cues like ‘Valar Morghulis’ and ‘I Am Hers, She Is Mine’, also with a splendid buildups. Terrific and heavy action is also present in ‘Don’t Die With a Clean Sword’ and ‘Stand and Fight’. The many cues in between are not fillers either, but they are part of a larger plan that fits perfectly for what we are about to discover in season 2 of Game of Thrones.
Conclusion
Games of Thrones season 2 has surpassed season 1 in every way, including music with better buildups, more excitement and better themes. There’s simply more of everything and shouldn’t be missed for any fan of the show or just good fantasy music.
GEEK SCORE: 87
