Mediterranean A Sea For All is a 2015 documentary film directed by Yann Arthus Bertrand. The Mediterranean sea is more than It is a region that has seen human civilizations grow . With it, the man imagined agriculture , trade, democracy and thought written pages of the major religions of the world. The Mediterranean , today is 427 million people and 24 countries. And yet … it seems we do not see this part of the world that its wars and repeated crises . Do we forget that Mediterranean mean? Do we forget how our own history is linked to the region? To revive this fascinating region , take the plunge. This is the challenge of this film, shot entirely in air under the direction of Yann Arthus -Bertrand . For the first time , the Mediterranean is seen from the sky , even in its most inaccessible countries like Libya , Lebanon, Egypt or Algeria . Travel in the geography, history and the natural world, sketch a message. That of a sea unique destiny , the Mare Nostrum , our sea all called Mediterranean. The score is composed by Armand Amar.

After having listened to Amar’s beautiful score to Human, another Bertrand documentary earlier, there’s no chance my anticipation for this is anything less than stellar. No pressure! As per usual, Amar has armed himself with a number of people to provide the beautiful vocals which is part of Amar’s “style”. ‘The Hebrews’ opens the score and it sounds so beautiful with or without the vocals by Adolphe Attie, but that voice adds massively to the mood, no doubt about it. Amar’s score is merely an “underscore” to the voice which seems to be the focal point, the main “instrument” of the cue. It’s a gorgeous mix though. The mediterranean mix really stands out early on in this score and it’s a clear highlight of it. If you’re a fan of that kind of music, you are going to love this score because I can’t imagine anyone doing it better than Amar.

There’s no doubt that Amar can do marvellous things without vocals as are again proven in cues like ‘The Cedar Of Lebanon’. I always get emotional when I listen to the documentary scores of Amar, they make such an impression as well. Each cue is unique as well. It’s like listening to 15 mini suites or even scores. This has got something for everyone. Unique and brilliant, another winner by Mr. Amar. Go get it.
