Red 2 Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the film score Red 2 by Alan Silvestri.
Alan Silvestri seems like a hit-and-miss kind of composer these days. One the one hand you have the incredibly lush and wonderfully orchestrated score The Croods, then you have electronic action scores like Red 2 which really is disappointing because Silvestri could compose some fantastic action music back in the day. Red 2 feels a lot worse than Silvestri’s latest action scores like The A-Team, G.I. Joe and The Avengers. It’s just based on electronic rhythms and melody seems to be have been forgotten.
I like rhythms in scores, and sometimes they really make the score a lot better. I just don’t want to hear it for 59 minutes straight and specially if they are average at best. Where’s the great sounding percussion? At least give me some awesome string parts. Nah, at least Christophe Beck’s score for Red had something unique, something different.
GEEK SCORE: 65
