Soundtrack Review: The Last Exorcism Part II (2013)

The Last Exorcism Part II Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the film score The Last Exorcism Part II by Michael Wandmacher.

It seems as though every time I hear a horror score by Wandmacher, he is getting better. The Last Exorcism Part II is certainly the best horror score I have heard from him and it’s all about presence. When I listen to the score, I feel a powerful presence and the goosebumps are coming on unchallenged. Like the beginning of ‘Flashback’ with those moaning voices. Cheap thrills? I don’t think so, I think it’s great and it works.

The main theme ‘The Chapel’ is a working theme, a piano theme, but nothing groundbreaking. It has a nice eerie sound to it though, and this score is all about scares. ‘Something In The House’ is as terrifying as they come and it’s not a moments rest while listening to it. I feel so damn tense and the feeling that something will jump at me at any moment is excruciating!

The Last Exorcism Part II is the scariest score of the year so far, and if you enjoy scary scores, this should be on top of your list!
